David Widmark is a leader. He was one of the founders of the very first Neighborhood Association in Gresham. He understands that in order to get things done, it is essential to bring people together, and he does just that. From his experience in serving on City Councils, Planning Commissions, Design and Review Commissions, and Blue Ribbon Panels, not to mention his career of many years managing federal employees, running a small business and managing a consulting firm, David Widmark has learned how to work with people. He is a problem solver. He is adept at communicating his dreams with people and bringing them on board to support his efforts (David also spent many years as a manager and Public Relations Officer for the USDA Forest Service– honing his skill as an effective communicator). David tackles issues head-on. He knows how to get to the heart of the matter and make decisions. As one observer to a City Council meeting once told Councilor Widmark, "You're not afraid to ask the tough questions."  David Widmark's experience, as demonstrated by his record of public service, makes him a leader. His passion to make Gresham a better place to live makes him a leader.
